Yoga not only helps in physical relaxation but also calms your mind and elevates your spirit, but sometimes if you are in the wrong yoga classes or not doing the posses suitable for you, then obviously you are doing more harm to your self than any good by joining a yoga class. Therefore before you attempt any of these here are few suggestion:
1. Once you have decided that you want to go for yoga consult your doctor first, to know exactly which kind of yoga or poses are suitable for you or which are meant to be avoided. Strictly go by what your doctor says because he knows the details of the ailments you are suffering from.
2. Then next step is to choose your yoga instructor and class wisely according to the needs of your body and capability. Know each and every details of the class from the instructor .You can even try with few trial classes. Never try to attempt difficult posses in the beginning as you might end up hurting yourself.
3. Perform the steps as per your own body needs, as doing more than your body permits may harm you than doing any good. Just relax and enjoy the steps rather than exerting your self.
4. Still if you are unable to fit in any of the yoga classes, then don't loose heart, try practicing at home. You can purchase some DVDs and books showing each and every step with its benefit and limitations.
5. Alternately you can also call a yoga instructor at home to get few lessons, which suits your need.
6. Practicing yoga alone may be sometimes boring, so get somebody with you who can join you may be your friend or spouse, to give you some motivation.
7. Try to eat light before the yoga. Doing yoga empty stomach is considered best, butthen in some cases excess hunger might not allow your body to enjoy the poses. But definitely give two hours break before starting your yoga and after finishing it.
